Due to the scale-free nature of the Internet, which is based on the voluntary participation of both public and private sectors, the government alone cannot enforce the traditional law in cyberspace. For years, Korean people have witnessed the catalytic effect of the Internet and certain types of criminal activities; fraud, piracy, imprudent disclosure, stalking, defamation, identity theft and trade of illegal goods. Along with technical exploitation of communication network, the Internet is getting more challenging for the law enforcement agencies.
Domestic partners are working together to reduce a wide gap between the cyber space and the law. The Cyber Terror Response Center is working together with other ministries, provincial governments, NGOs, private corporate and communities.
Our international partners are usually law enforcement agencies who fight against the cyber crime. They share exchange in general information, criminal intelligence and case experience. International cooperative operations are common in cyber crime investigation. |
