Case Investigation
Cyber crime Investigation is the Cyber Terror Response Center¡¯s core function. Investigation is conducted by the
most experienced and qualified police officers and researchers gathered from across the Republic of Korea.
The fundamental goal of our investigation is to protect the country and the people who are heavily dependent on IT infrastructure.
Research
The Cyber Terror Response Center and the cyber cops in Korea had experienced various crimes in cyberspace; these exclusive experiences naturally have enriched resources for the researchers to come out with the technical countermeasures. Led by the Chief and Senior Researchers, the research team is working to enlarge knowledge base of police on cyber crime. The results are usually practical, and the researchers and police officers constantly exchange feedbacks in the bimonthly seminars participated by the director, investigators and researchers.
Field Assistance
In December 2004 the Cyber Terror Response Center (CTRC) renewed its digital evidence process by
establishing Digital Forensics Laboratory (DFL) within the Center. Mainly operated by the members of the Technical
Assistance Team, the facility is carefully designed to meet the need of current IT environment of Korea. At the same time the Center¡¯s administrative function supplied provincial police agencies with standard disk forensic apparatus for effective response for local cases.
